(New intro music is “Amiable Boy” by Savium. “Savium is a self-indulgent instrumental one-man band who persistently and consciously performs speechless music. Savium has no particular intention of making this project successful, the music is merely presented freely for the liberated minds that crave more than just one listen.”)

Another great show guys. Question for Mike. A solution that is equally suitable to be developed in Adobe Air using HTML/CSS/Javascript or Adobe Flex with a web browser, with a developer’s knowledge and abilities in both being equal, which would produce the solution in the most timely manner?

With all of that equal it’s honestly very hard to say. Both can be used to do all of what you can do with Air. I’d have to lean towards Flex for a few reasons as things like effects and layouts are a little easier to manage than some equivalents in HTML. Flex also includesdata visualization that is really hard to represent in JavaScript thus far.
That being said, HTML/JavaScript/CSS gets the nudge if you have to interact with web services that can speak JSON. With the number of javascript targeted web services available these days it’s worth thinking about this before choosing a direction.
Equally suited, equally skilled, other than the points above, flip a coin
